We here at NeverRadio have been listening to remixes from Portuguese Portlander André Allen Anjos (PPAAA) for a few years now. What a cool experience to see him perform live alongside the talented Liz Anjos (of Pink Feathers) Troupe Gammage (of Speak), Filous, and Karl Kling. Fun fact, we imagine Liz is the fastest runner of the four. We could take her, though.
Have you ever been to a DJ show where you're pretty sure the main act just pressed play on his iPod and then fist pumped for 90 minutes? Well, this was not that show. Not to sound cheesy, but these guys brought their music to life. Vocals were on point - Gammage and Kling switched back and forth on lead without even skipping a beat between 'Something Good Can Work' by Tokyo Police Club and 'Houdini' by Foster the People.
On the last leg of their North American tour, the crew did not seem tired. Quite the opposite in fact - feeding off the energy of the crowd, they danced, played, and sang the s#it out of those songs.
The energy level never dropped once during the entire set. Andre mentioned that his first ever Vancouver show was opening up for Tegan and Sara, years ago. Things have certainly grown since then, although in our humble opinion, not nearly large enough.
A huge thanks to Katrina Beveridge Photography, Live Nation, and the live music that keeps us dancing on an otherwise quiet Thursday evening.
Yet another reason to visit Portland, well played RAC, well played.
