No, I’ve been here a bunch, I did a lot of my album here because of my producer, he’s from Victoria and has a spot in Vancouver so I’ve been on the ferry and everything.
It was fun, it was cool to just meet him as a fan. So to be able to work with him multiple times and have like a relationship with him in any way it's pretty surreal.
Yeah a little, I mean we worked on a couple projects, something else we did I don't think is going to come out yet, but it will come out soon... It's been like an ongoing relationship which is just really cool. I've been really honoured to and humbled that he even paid attention.
Yeah I think I'm up to episode five now, I just finished shooting and I think there's only two out so there's a lot of work to put out there and I've gotten to work with people that I really admire so I can't wait for other people to hear. I don't know if I'm allowed to share who's coming but it's a mix of people who have inspired me and people who are like my peers, so it just feels very real and organic, people I actually listen to.
Oh man it's tough because I'm really... I'm all over the place but you know people that I admire as artists I might not even necessarily listen to their records. I just really like what they're doing and where they're coming from in their records that I love I don't necessarily or I can't call myself a fan really cause I haven't dived into their discography as deep as I should have. But I think the last song that I really liked was "Niki and the Dove - So Much it Hurts" and I was into the new "Blood Orange" project, it's really all over the place.
Really, oh, I've never heard that before but I'm a huge D'Angelo fan.
I think it's going to be like that for a little bit, which is cool, totally fine with me. I remember I played it for my family two Christmases ago, so it's been awhile, but the rest of the album is so new. I pulled an all nighter and got it in right on the last day. I literally finished the last song with my drummer - a version of 'Jupiter' - and then submitted the album.
Yeah you don't have to put in the coffee... just the coffee cup so everyone think you're drinking coffee.
Absolutely, absolutely. I think she's engaged too though so that might make it more difficult.
We haven't played yet no, but I do play with my band all the time cause that's my favourite game. I love those guys on the label though. And I'll probably be nationally ranked soon. I got the app so I'm just always playing.
I'm pretty boring man, I just like watching cartoons and playing video games, and just like fucking around. I'm not the kind of dude that goes to a club or goes partying much. I used to read a lot of non-fiction but it's been a while.
Yeah I love it here, I think it's beautiful. I think last time I was here I got to go stay at a cabin in Whistler and it was really beautiful, I love the New Zealand vibes. You know, even this morning I woke up and looked outside and there's thick trees, that's awesome to me. It's just beautiful. I want to make it down to some other parks while I'm here.
On my rider I always just have 'best local craft beer' so I get to sample the local beer wherever I go so it's pretty awesome.
